Where your recordings go.
From Pluronto to your own iPhone, iPad or Mac. That's the whole route for your audio. Here's how it works, what Pluronto doesn't do, how the AI stays on your device, and what isn't finished yet.
One route.
Pluronto keeps each recording on its built-in card. When you stop, it wakes its radio in short windows and offers the file to the devices you've paired. The Pluronto app collects it over Bluetooth LE, or over a direct Wi-Fi link that Pluronto creates just for that transfer. Your phone doesn't need the internet for this, and no router is involved.
Once a recording is in the Pluronto app, it's part of that device's data. If you've turned on device backups, such as iCloud Backup, the app's recordings are included in them, like any other app data.
What Pluronto does.
-
Records only when you press the key.
There's no always-on listening. A recording starts when you hold the record key and ends when you press it again.
-
Keeps its radio off while recording.
Nothing is transmitted during a recording. Files are handed over after you stop.
-
Pairs only when you ask.
New devices can pair only during a three-minute window that you open with two presses on Pluronto. It remembers up to four devices.
-
Encrypts its Bluetooth link.
Pluronto uses LE Secure Connections with bonding. A device that isn't paired can't read your recordings or control Pluronto.
-
Uses fresh Wi-Fi credentials.
For each fast transfer, Pluronto creates a private network with a random name, a random 20-character password and an access token that is valid only for that session, and shuts it down afterwards.
-
Holds none of your passwords.
Pluronto never joins your Wi-Fi and never stores Wi-Fi or cloud credentials.
-
Keeps a low profile.
Outside the pairing window, its Bluetooth name carries no serial number, and its Bluetooth address changes every 15 minutes.
-
Checks every file.
The app verifies each recording with a SHA-256 checksum before Pluronto marks it as synced. Nothing is cleared before that.
What we don't do.
- We don't have an account system. There's nothing to sign up for.
- We don't keep your recordings, transcripts or answers on any server of ours. The AI that answers your questions runs on your own device.
- We don't sell personal data. We hold none of yours, apart from short-lived web server logs (privacy policy, section 3) and the waitlist once it opens.
- This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Its typeface and images come from this site.
When you ask a question.
In developmentThe Pluronto app answers questions about your conversations on your own iPhone, iPad or Mac, with Apple Intelligence: Apple's language model that runs on the device itself. Here's what that means for your data.
-
Nothing leaves the device.
Your question, the transcripts and the answer stay on the device you're using. To answer you, the app sends nothing to us or to anyone else.
-
Only from your recordings.
The app first finds the passages that match your question, then the model answers from those passages alone, with links to the moments it used.
-
Without Apple Intelligence.
Apple Intelligence needs a recent iPhone, iPad or Mac with it turned on. Without it, the app shows you the matching passages instead of a written answer.
-
Answers can be wrong.
Answers link to the moments in the recording they draw on, so you can listen and check.
Recordings often include other people. Record only when everyone knows. Recording responsibly
Not finished yet.
Pluronto is a prototype. These are the privacy and security gaps we know about, in plain words.
-
Recordings on the device aren't encrypted.
They're protected on their way to your phone, but stored unencrypted on Pluronto's internal card. We're evaluating on-device encryption for production.
-
Pairing has no PIN.
Anyone holding Pluronto can open the pairing window with two presses and pair a device. An approval step for new devices is on our list before launch.
-
There's no guest mode.
If you lend Pluronto to someone and they pair it with their phone, recordings still on Pluronto can sync to it. Sync or delete your recordings before you lend it.
-
The recording light isn't proven yet.
Pluronto's white status light shows through a 0.8 mm dot near the top of the front. It's in the design, but it hasn't been checked on a built unit, so we can't yet say how easy it is to see. Until it has, tell people when you're recording.
-
Security review pending.
The firmware hasn't had an independent security review yet. Before Pluronto can go on sale, it has to meet the EU's cybersecurity requirements for radio equipment.
